Building a home means working closely together for months.

Here’s a little about Thomas and Gabriel, how we came to work together, and what matters to us along the way.

Thomas
Chamberland

Owner, Newlines Contracting

Thomas moved to Whistler in 1999 and spent his early years filming professional skiers. In 2002, he began working with Vision Pacific, then started Newlines in late 2006.

His work has grown through custom homes, detailed renovations and architectural concrete. He enjoys the complicated parts of a build and stays closely involved with the crew, trades and homeowners.

Just as important to him is the relationship with the people he’s building for. Many clients have become friends long after their homes were finished.

Away from the job site

Skiing, snowmobiling, dirt biking and road racing have all been a big part of Thomas’s life in BC.

Gabriel
Viel-Cote

Co-owner, NewlinesADU

Originally from Quebec, Gabriel has called BC home for more than 13 years. A carpenter by trade, he has worked in construction since his teens, on both residential and commercial projects.

At NewlinesADU, he helps homeowners work through early planning, scope and project coordination. He also develops the systems behind the scenes, connecting hands-on building experience with a practical interest in technology.

His focus is keeping information organized, making decisions easier to understand and giving clients time and attention throughout the project.

Why we started NewlinesADU

It started with
two weeks of work.

A few years later, a partnership.

Gabriel first came to work with Thomas for two weeks. That turned into several years, then a partnership. NewlinesADU grew from that working relationship and the experience behind Newlines Contracting.

We wanted to bring that experience to smaller homes and explore the building methods that make sense for each project. We’ve travelled around BC, met manufacturers and toured their shops to understand how they build before choosing our partners.

Prefab, modular, panelized and site-built construction each have their place. We look at the property, design and client’s priorities before choosing a path. 3D modelling helps us explore the details and make the plan easier to understand.

How we like to work

Good service starts with
a good working relationship.

We want you to feel comfortable asking questions, understand the decisions ahead and know who to turn to as your project moves along.

01

Work through the details early.

Site conditions, scope, budget and schedule deserve careful attention from the start. We aim to keep the project on track, with clear conversations when something changes.

02

Keep information close at hand.

A client portal brings schedules, drawings, decisions and updates together, so they’re easy to find from a phone or computer.

03

Make more time for people.

Technology, including AI-supported tools, helps us reduce repetitive administration and keep information organized. The point is to keep overhead lean and make more time for our clients and the work.
